June 23rd – July 10th
June 23 – Departing our homes with great excitement we will begin by travelling to North Sydney to catch the night crossing to Port Aux Basque. I have cabins reserved for all guests. Cabin expenses included in package.
June 24 – Upon arriving to this great province and following a hearty
breakfast at Port aux Basque Hotel we will begin our Newfoundland experience and visit Rose Blanche Lighthouse. A perfect location to capture a post card picture of a typical Newfoundland outport community.
One of my favorite highlights! We will Stop in Stephenville for lunch before travelling to Cornerbrook’s accommodations Greenwood Inn 709-634-5381, for our first nights stay on the Rock.
June 25 – Today we will begin exploring the Northern Peninsula – You will be amazed at spectacular scenery as we travel towards one of the world’s UNESCO heritage sites “Gros Morne National Park” witnessing coastal lowlands, alpine plateau, fjords, glacial valleys, and sheer cliffs and numerous pristine lakes. We will take time for numerous photo opportunities as we travel to our night accommodation at Sea Echo Hotel located in Port aux Choix 709-861-3777. A Newfoundland Musical evening has been arranged for us to tap our toes.
June 26 – Following our hearty breakfast we will visit Port aux Choix Historic Site – where we will learn the crossroads of 6000 years of human history – Also a perfect location to see caribou! Late morning we will travel North to St. Barb to cross Strait of Belle Isle to Labrador. Upon arrival we will make the rugged journey to Red Bay to visit a National Historic site dedicated to the 16th century Basque Whalers – Before arriving to our hotel Northern Light 709-931-2332. A delightful meal will be enjoyed at “Whalers” restaurant.
June 27 – Catching our afternoon crossing we will travel to the most northern tip to St. Anthony – Upon arrival we will visit Dr. Wilfred Grenfell Mission, witnessing early primitive medical services in Labrador & Newfoundland – This evening we will enjoy another great Newfoundland musical evening.
June 28 – A relaxing morning has been arranged for you – or join Jason and I and travel to nearby Goose Cove and Fishing Point for spectacular rugged picturesque scenery. Following lunch we will travel to L’anse aux Meadow’s to visit World Heritage Site of the Viking’s Settlement. Enjoying incredible scenery and so much history!
June 29 – Departing the Northern Peninsula we will make our way to Hawkes Bay – making interesting stops at Flowers Cove Thrombolite Fossils; Torrent River Salmon Interpretation – Another great Newfoundland musical evening has been arranged for you, at our nights accommodation Torrent River Inn 709-248-5225.
June 30 – This morning we will travel to Rocky Harbour to enjoy the picturesque Sea Side Town; Gift shops and lunch before enjoying our 2 hour Bonne Bay Boat Cruise from Norris Point to Woody Point – enjoyingspectacular scenery of the Bonne Bay as we sail through two connected Fjords. Visiting the most impressive. “Discovery Centre” before witnessing a geological wonder of the world “Tablelands” a must see! Tonight’s accommodation at Deer Lake TBA
July 1 – Happy Canada’s Day!
Our travels will take us across this huge vast picturesque province, making comfort stops and stopping at points of interest to our nights accommodation in Lewisporte at Brittany Inn 709-535-2533.
July 2 – Departing Lewisporte we will travel to Boyd’s Cove to visit Beothuk Interpretation Center. Visiting the interpretation center we will witness exhibits and artifacts and foster an appreciation for this unique now – extinct indigenous people. Travelling along Iceberg Alley to picturesque Twillingate makes this another perfect Newfoundland day. Visiting Durrell Oceanside Museum featuring Polar Bear and Auk exhibits. Photo opportunities of Iceberg Alley at Long Point Lighthouse. Enjoying a delightful lunch and there impressive Gift Shops plus wine sampling at Auk Island Winery will add to our visit before travelling to Terra Nova Resort for our two night’s stay. 709-543-2525.
July 3 – We will experience another perfect Newfoundland day by exploring Bonavesta Peninsula. Just like John Cabot did in 1497! Visiting charming Trinity and viewing there many recognized Registered Heritage Buildings, plus a perfect location for our delicious lunch at Trinity’s 300 year old Dock Marina. We will continue along the Trinity loop to Elliston the “Root Cellar” Capital of the world, photo opportunities of Dungeon Park before visiting “Cape Bonavista Lighthouse” a perfect location to see whales, Icebergs and Puffins!
July 4 – Following a delicious breakfast we will travel to Newfoundland’s seaport capital St. John’s our home for three nights at the impressive Delta Hotel 709-739-6404 – Upon arrival and following lunch we will become more familiar with this historic City, by welcoming our City Tour Guide. To enjoy an informative city tour plus travelling to the most eastern point in North America Cape Spear Lighthouse National Historic Site.
July 5- We will begin our day by sightseeing along Conception Bay to picturesque Brigus! The home to captain Bob Barlett a famed Artic Explorer and the location of his residence Hawthorne Cottage, Also the
home of the “Rock Solid Builds”! Chances are you may meet Randy and his family. Another highlight to our day is travelling to Bay Bulls for our exciting Whale Watching and puffin excursion – Don’t forget your cameras!!
July 6 – Today is your day to relax or explore downtown St. John’s. This evening we will celebrate and have a most entertaining evening at our Screech In Ceremony!
July 7 – Another exciting day is plan for you as we travel to “Burin Peninsula”! Firstly we will visit Vernon’s Antique Car Museum – an amazing assortment of the rarest antique cars in North America located in Swift Current. Our travels will continue throughout Barren land and we will witness huge glacial erratic boulders dropped by glaciers million years ago, towards our two nights stay in Marystown hotel & Convention Center 709-279-1600. A Newfoundland musical evening has been arranged for you!
July 8 – A fun day has been designed for you to travel to nearby picture perfect Burin! One of my favorite Newfoundland towns. We will welcome our delightful step on guide to enlightened us on the history and hardships of this rugged outport which was built along a series of high cliffs and sheltered coves! Visiting Smugglers Cove – a western – style roadhouse is a perfect location for noon hour lunch before travelling to St. Lawrence and visiting there very impressive museum which explains the devastation history and the once mined Fluorspar mineral. Following our most heart – warming visit we will continue to explore the Burin Peninsula often referred to as the Boot!!
July 9 – Following our relaxing morning we will depart Marystown and travel to Argenta to bid Farewell to this amazing Island and amazing holiday catching the 5:30 pm ferry to North Sydney. I have cabins reserved for all guess and price included in package.
July 10 – Upon arrival in North Sydney, Nova Scotia we will return home with wonderful New Found Friends, and wonderful memories of our spectacular holiday. Price Per Person Tax Included
