Exploring the Wonders of Newfoundland & Labrador July 2nd – July18th 2023
July 2 – Departing our homes with great excitement we will begin by travelling to
North Sydney to catch the night crossing to Port Aux Basques. I have cabins
reserved for all guests. Cabin expenses included in package.
July 3 – Upon arriving to this great province and following a hearty Newfoundland
breakfast at Port aux Basque Hotel we will begin our Newfoundland experience
and visit Rose Blanche Lighthouse. A perfect location to capture a post card
picture of a typical Newfoundland outport community. We will be treated to our
first NFLD cuisine meal at Mangaree Sea Shore quaint restaurant. Travelling to
Cornerbrook, we will visit Stephenville to learn of the military importance during
the World War 11. Accommodations in Cornerbrook’s Greenwood Inn 709-634-
5381.
July 4 – Today we will begin exploring the Northern Peninsula – You will be
amazed at spectacular scenery as we travel towards one of the world’s UNESCO
heritage sites “Gros Morne National Park” witnessing coastal lowlands, alpine
plateau, fjords, glacial valleys, sheer cliffs and numerous pristine lakes. We will
take time for numerous photo opportunities as we travel to our night
accommodation at Sea Echo Hotel located in Port aux Choix 709-861-3777. A
Newfoundland Musical evening has been arranged for us to tap our toes.
July 5 – Following our hearty breakfast we will visit Port aux Choix Historic Site
- where we will learn the crossroads of 6000 years of human history – Also a
perfect location to see caribou! Late morning we will travel North to St. Barb to
cross Straits of Belle Isle to Labrador. Upon arrival we will make the rugged
journey to Red Bay to visit Red Bay’s National Historic Site dedicated to the 16 th
century Basque Whalers – Before arriving to our hotel Northern Light 709-931-
2332, a delightful meal will be enjoyed at “Whalers” restaurant located in Red
Bay.
July 6 – Catching our afternoon crossing returning to NFLD. We will travel to the
most northern tip to St. Anthony – Upon arrival we will visit Dr. Wilfred Grenfell
Mission witnessing early primitive medical services in Labrador & Newfoundland - This evening we will enjoy another great Newfoundland musical evening at our
accommodation Hotel North 709-454-3300.
July 7 – This exciting day will begin by visiting L’anse aux Meadow’s to visit a
World Heritage Site of the Viking’s Settlement. Enjoying incredible scenery and
so much history! Following lunch we will depart the Northern Peninsula and make
our way to Hawkes Bay – making an interesting stop at Flowers Cove’s
Thrombolite Fossils- Another great Newfoundland musical evening has been
arranged for you, at our nights accommodation Torrent River Inn 709-248-5225.
July 8 – This morning we will travel to Rocky Harbour to enjoy the picturesque
Sea Side Town; Gift shops and lunch before enjoying our 2 hour Bonne Bay Boat
Cruise from Norris Point to Woody Point – enjoying spectacular scenery of the
Bonne Bay as we sail through two connected Fjords. Visiting the most impressive.
“Discovery Centre” before witnessing
a geological wonder of the world “Tablelands” a must see! Tonight’s

July 9 – Our travels will take us across this huge vast picturesque province, making
an interesting stop at Grand Falls Salmon Interpretation Center- One of the
largest Atlantic Salmon Enhancement projects in North America. Our night’s
accommodation will be at Gander’s Sinbad Hotel 709-651-2678 our home for
two nights. This evening we will attend the award winning, hugely popular
musical “Come From Away”. This award winning musical known all around the
world comes home to Gander. The breathtaking musical, tells the remarkable true
story of 7,000 stranded passengers and the communities in Newfoundland and
Labrador that welcomed them on 9/11”.
July 10- Following our delicious breakfast, travelling along Iceberg Alley to
picturesque Twillingate, makes this another perfect Newfoundland day. Visiting
Durrell Oceanside Museum featuring Polar Bear and Auk exhibits, Photo
opportunities of Iceberg Alley at Long Point Lighthouse, and enjoying a
delightful lunch at Twillingate’s Harbour seaside Restaurant will add to our visit
before returning to our lovely accommodations.
July 12 – Following a delicious buffet breakfast we will travel to Newfoundland’s
seaport capital St. John’s our home for three nights at the ideally located downtown
impressive Delta Hotel 709-739-6404 – Upon arrival and following lunch we will
become more familiar with this historic City, by welcoming our City Tour Guide,
to enjoy an informative city tour. Visiting Historical Village Quidi Vidi. Cabot
Tower on Signal Hill to mention a few attractions – This evening we will celebrate
and have a most entertaining evening at our Screech Inn party.
July 13 – Today will be filled with excitement as we go to nearby Bay Bulls for
our whale watching and puffin excursion, visiting picturesque Petty Harbour – and
visiting North Americas most eastern point in Cape Spear Lighthouse National
Historical Site is a must
July 14- Today is your day to relax or explore downtown St. John’s.
July 15 – We will begin another perfect Newfoundland day by travelling along
picturesque Conception Bay to Brigus! The home of Captain Bob Barlett, a famed
Artic Explorer and the home of “Rock Solid Builds” Chances are you may meet
Randy Spracklin and his family! We will continue onward to Burin Peninsula for
our two night stay in Marystown Hotel & Convention Center 709-279-1600.
Before our arrival we will visit Vernon’s Antique Car Museum – an amazing
assortment of the rarest antique cars in North America located in Swift Current.
Our travels will continue throughout Barren Land and we will witness huge glacial
erractics boulders dropped by glaciers millions years ago.
July 16 – A fun day has been designed for you to travel to nearby picture perfect
Burin! One of my favorite Newfoundland towns. We will welcome our delightful
step on guide to enlighten us on the history and hardships of this rugged outport
which was built along a series of high cliffs and sheltered coves! We will continue
onward to visit St. Lawrence for our delicious lunch plus visiting their very
impressive museum which explains the devastation history and the once mined
Fluorspar mineral. Following our most heart – warming visit we will continue to
explore the Burin Peninsula often referred to as the Boot!! A Newfoundland
musical evening has been arranged to celebrate a holiday of a lifetime.
July 17 – Before departing Amazing Newfoundland, we will visit one more
picturesque seaside village – Dildo. A colorful town nestled on the shores of
Trinity Bay – That has received a lot of attention since ABC’s Late Night Show
Host Jimmy Kimmel’s staff visited and placed a “Hollywood” Dildo sign on the
mountainside. Reservations have been made to bid farewell to this amazing
province by catching the 5:30 p.m. ferry for our 15 hour sail. I have cabins
reserved for all guest to add to your comfort as we sail to North Sydney.
July 18 – Upon arrival in North Sydney, Nova Scotia we will return home with
wonderful New Found Friends, and wonderful memories of our spectacular
holiday.
